Clubs and Activities
Strive drop-in club will run on Monday's and Wednesday's from 3:05-4:00 pm. Students must stay the entire hour. Students are to go to their locker to get the work they need help with, and then go directly to the library. They are to sign in and find a seat to begin quietly working. They will raise their hand to ask a teacher for support with any subject that they need help with (no Language support). At the end of the hour they are to return to their locker to get their coat and backpack, and then leave the building immediately. All students must have a ride arranged if they use the bus.

 SWAT At Bemis Junior High School we are taking positive steps to help your child have a successful school year. At this time we would like to invite your student to participate in SWAT (Students Working to Achieve Together), an after school tutoring and mentoring club. This program will be facilitated by Mr. Mastrogianis, Bemis Counselor, and Mrs. O’Green, teacher, with tutoring by highly motivated and gifted students from the Ford High School Honor Society and MST programs. The program will start on September 19, 2017 and will be available on Tuesdays throughout both semesters, from 3:05 to 4:00 in the school library. 
Your student will be expected to bring all necessary materials and books to the library during all tutoring sessions by 3:05 p.m. and remain until 4:00 p.m. Parents need to arrange to pick up their student by 4:10 p.m. If you would like your child to participate in this program, please complete the permission form from the link below and return it to the counseling office prior to your child’s first date of attendance.  Students who sign up must remain in the club through the semester.

 Builders Club
Builders Club is an international student-led organization that provides students with opportunities to perform service, build character and develop leadership. Students learn to work together and develop leadership skills as they serve their school and community. In partnership with organizations, such as, UNICEF and St. Baldrick’s the clubs are able to expand their outreach to children and families of the world, their school and their community.

 Ecology Club Ecology Club promotes environmental awareness and encourages recycling. It is for students to develop an awareness of the environment around them and how it is affected by people.

Forensics Club  In Forensics, we practice the skill of public speaking, and develop skills in interpreting and/or performing poetry, plays, and stories vocally for an audience.  Theater games are incorporated into our activities.
Forensics club starts  September 22, 2017
Time 3:05 to 4:00 in Room 39
Forensics club runs for the first semester and during second semester, forensics becomes a team whereby students pick material and practice to compete at the state competition in April.

We will be meeting regularly on Friday afternoons throughout the year. Students may bring peanut and tree nut free snacks and/or beverages to our meetings.
 Book Club We share our love of reading together! We will all read the same book (that we voted on) throughout the month and discuss the author, setting, characterization, and plot.  
Book Club meets twice a month after school until 4:00.

Science Olympiad  Science Olympiad is a nationally recognized competition where students compete in pre-selected events. There are various events that all require dedication and an interest in science. Preparation for events includes afterschool practice and mentorship.
Student Council The student council is a group of dedicated students that work towards making school decisions and practicing leadership. Through collaboration and brainstorming, school events are decided upon by the student council.

Static Club S.T.A.T.I.C. Club (Students Taking Action Together in Christ) is a safe, supportive, student run social club. The club meets every Wednesday morning @7:30 in room 38.

Fair Club
 Science Fair Club provides support to those students who would like to compete in the "Science and Engineering Fair of Metro Detroit" in 2018 on March 13-17.  Everything from the development of possible scientific experiments to the completion of the science fair board will be discussed.  Students will complete the actual project independently at home.
