Bemis Junior High School

Our Mission

The mission of Bemis Junior High school is to provide an environment in which students will engage in learning, develop respect, and become life-long learners and positive contributors to society.

• Bemis Junior High School is a national exemplary school. This is the most prestigious honor that can be awarded to a U.S. school. The Program sets a standard of excellence for all schools striving for the highest level of achievement. These are schools ranked among each state's highest performing schools as measured by their performance on state assessments.
• Bemis Junior High is a national Blue Ribbon
  Exemplary School.
• Bemis JHS had 197 students achieve all As and 280 students attain a B average in 2012-2013.
• Bemis JHS completed its second successful year of accelerated English and social studies
  classes in both grades. In addition, students in the advanced mathematics pathway accelerated
  in their science class.
• Bemis earned Emerald designation in the State of Michigan’s Green Schools program.
• The Bemis Destination Imagination team earned first place at regionals, fourth at state
  finals and sixth at global finals.
• Forty seven Bemis students took part in the Michigan Industrial Technology Education Society (MITES) competition. Thirty-seven earned awards and progressed to the state level where eight students captured first place awards and one achieved high honors.
• Seven Bemis students competed in the Macomb County “You Be the Chemist” science contest. Our students earned third and fourth place finishes. One student went on to place eleventh in the statewide competition.
• The Bemis Student Council raised funds and collected gifts for the Gleaners Food Bank and Toys for Tots. Bemis students also donated to the following charitable organizations last year:
  -Samaritan House, Romeo Nursing Center, Macomb Humane Society and Kiwanis. 
  -Our students also donated blankets to Project Linus and many used books to local elementary schools. 
  -More than 200 pairs of used jeans were donated to Teens for Jeans for homeless teens at the Detroit Rescue Mission. 
  -Our school also collected used eyeglasses that were donated to the Lions Club Recycle for Sight program. 
  -Bemis students also raised more than $4,500 for the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
